Sea Mariner’s 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my spiritual compass.
I shall not be lost.
He enables me to rest on home shores.
He leads me safely to still waters.
He and his oceans restore my soul.
He leads me on a course to safety and
Righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yes, as I pilot shadowy waves of death,
I will fear no evil, for He is with me.
His hand and guidance protect me.
He provides a bountiful sea harvest
For my family. My soul runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me
All of days of my life, and I will dwell on
The Lord’s oceans forever.

Over the years, several variations of the “Mariner’s 23rd Psalm” have been written. The accompanying photo is of the mural painting by marine artist Joseph Purcell in the Fishermen’s Memorial Room at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
