“Chilly Bangor airport, carry-ons we grabbed…”

Love cannot survive on concrete and stone.
My heart fell into despair when you were gone.
Two of us stepping from predawn taxicab,
Chilly Bangor airport, carry-ons we grabbed.
Ticket counter we stood, separate flights,
Nothing resolved negotiating all night.
Yet, we hugged and kissed goodbye,
Pained affections, our parting dignified.
I don’t understand you or us,
Like you said, there’s nothing more to discuss.

Thanks for reading.
